
On my Toyota mr2, there was some paint missing on the targa roof. The only way to recover it was to respray the whole t-roof (only the trim above the window). This is how I did it, and the result is perfect!
- Clean your roof completely
- protect and cover everything you don’t want to paint (very important)
- Sand to the bare metal (400 wet) -> Wet is important to avoid scratches
- Put 3 thin layers of primer -> maybe it’s a good idea to gently sand it with 400 wet to avoid dust before painting
- Paint/Spray with 3 to 4 thin layers of black mat.
- Put 2 or 3 thin layers of clear varnish to protect the paint.
- Clean rest of glue with ispopropanol
Enjoy the result. Paint in good environment and good temperatures to avoid cracks, dust or the paint not to stick on the metal.
